FIJET Academy for Young Journalists aims to train young individuals from the tourism and journalism field in the interest of developing the tourism sector.
The last year’s academy was held at Yasar University in Izmir between 12 – 19 August 2018. Young participants from nine different countries discovered the unique touristic sites on the Aegean corner of Asia Minor as well as attending courses and workshops.
Just after my master’s graduation, I also had the chance to participate in this horizon-expanding academy where I combined my tourism knowledge and became a young tourism journalist!
FIJET which stands for the World Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers was founded in Paris in 1954. An affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the federation has organized this year’s academy in İzmir, Turkey with the collaboration of Turkish Association of Tourism Journalists and Writers (ATURJET).
This year’s academy will be organised in collaboration with Final International University under the theme of tourism and technology for better intercultural communication in North Cyprus from 16th to 23rd June 2019.
