I am in the tourism field for almost ten years which gave me a profound understanding of travel and hospitality philosophy. On one hand, by literally studying the field I have a scientific interpretation ability over the tourism phenomenon. North Cyprus: Pocket Guide (Turkish)

Kuzey Kıbrıs dediğimiz zaman kumarhane ve lüks otelcilik aklımıza geliyor ancak gerçek öyle değil. Geçtiğimiz haziran ayında FIJET Academy 2019 sayesinde yaptığım ziyaret esnasında Kıbrıs’ın tarihi, doğası, kültür ve sosyal yapısı ile ne kadar zengin ve de geçmiş yıllarda yapılan bunca savaşın neden önemli olduğunu deneyimleydim.

Sizlere ilk önce ulaşımdan bahsetmek istiyorum, Antalya Havalimanı’ndan sadece 45 dakika uzaklıkta olan Kuzey Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti’ne alternatif olarak gemi ile Mersin taş ucundan 1 Saat 40 dakikada ulaşılabiliyor. Kuzey Kıbrıs’a geldiğiniz zaman ilk olarak ters işleyen trafik dikkat çekiyor. Ada’da trafik konusunda ve birçok konuda İngiliz kültürü hâkim.

Kuzey Kıbrıs’ın tarihi M.Ö 1500’lü yıllara kadar uzanmaktadır. Bundan dolayı da birçok kültürel mirasa ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Kıbrıs’ın ikiye bölünmesiyle bu tarihi yerlerin birçok kısmının Türk tarafında kalmış olmasından dolayı da şanslı sayılırz. Başkent Lefkoşa da medeniyet, Girne de bir Akdeniz şehri kokusu alabilir, Gazi Mağusa’da Kıbrıs tarihini görebilir Güzeltyurt’da ise yeşilliklerle bütünleşebilirsiniz.

Selimiye Cami (St. Sophia Kilisesi)

Selimiye Cami aslında gotik St. Sophia (Aya Sofya)  Kıbrıs Adası’ndaki Gotik mimarinin en önemli örneği olarak kabul edilmektedir. Osmanlıların 1570’de döneminde St. Sophia Katedrali iki uzun ve zarif minare eklenerek camiye çevrilmiş ve Aya Sofya Camisi olarak da adlandırılmıştır. İçeriye girdiğiniz de sizleri huzur kokan bir mimari ile karşılaşıyorsunuz.

Lefkoşa Surları

Venedikliler, Kıbrıs’a girmek üzere olan Türklerden korunabilmek için eski surlar yerine yenilerini inşa etmişler ve günümüzde hala eski yapısını koruyor.

Büyük Han

Mimarisi ile Anadolu’daki birçok hanı andıran Büyük Han, 68 oda ve 10 dükkân ile inşasından sonra gezgin ve kervanların konakladığı bir yer olmuştur. Şimdilerde ise hediyelik eşya satan esnaflar tarafından kullanılıyor. Büyük Han’a girdiğinizde tarihi bir yolculuk sizleri bekliyor.

Kumarcılar Han

Osmanlılardan kalma hanın büyük salon girişinde yer alan Orta çağa ait bir gotik kemer vardır. Handa, iç avlunun kenarı boyunca sıralanmış 44 oda bulunur. Günümüz de daha çok hediyelik eşya satan esnaflar vardır. 

Salamis Harabeleri

Kuzey Kıbrıs’ın bana göre en önemli ören yerlerinden biri, Salamis Harabeleri. Eski bir Roma kenti olan Salamis içerisinde Gymnazium, Tiyatro, Roma Villası, Kampanometra Bazilikası, Aya Epiphanios Bazilikası, Su Deposu, Taş Forum ve Zeus Tapınağı bulunmakta. Kent yapısıyla İzmir de ki Efes’i andırmaktadır. 

St. Nicholas Katedrali / Lala Paşa Camisi

Akdeniz bölgesinin en güzel Gotik mimarilerinden bir tanesi 1571 yılında cami haline getirilen ve hala cami olarak hizmet veren yapının penceresinde Venedik armalarını görebilirsiniz.

Hayalet Şehir Kapalı Maraş

Burası benim hikayelerini duyduğumda tüylerimin diken diken olduğu bir yer. Bir tarafta güneşlenen insanlar diğer tarafta ise hayalet bir şehir. Şimdilerde ise eserlere yönelik bazı envanter sayma çalışmaları yapılıyor. İleride turizme açık bir alan olabilir. Bir turizmci olarak merak ediyorum açıkçası. Bölgeye giriş yapmak hatta fotoğraf/video çekmek dahi yasak. Fakat bölgenin hemen bitiminde (tel örgülerin başladığı yerde) halka açık bir plaj bulunuyor. Tam bu noktadan kapalı Maraş’ın sahil şeridini rahatlıkla gözlemleyebiliyorsunuz.

Namık Kemal Zindanı ve Müzesi

Kuzey Kıbrıs küçük bir Akdeniz adası. İçinde bulundurduğu doğa, tarih ve kültürü ile birçok ziyaretçiyi bekliyor. Kuzey Kıbrıs’a gelmişken yemeklerini tatmadan olmaz tabii ki. Hellim ve şeftali kebabının tadına bakabildim, güzel ve lezzetli tadı var. Eğer yemek için adres soracak olursanız, Girne’de liman bölgesindeki tarihi mekanların arasında kalan restoranlar sizin adresiniz!
